Who we are

Lovis Petur (12)

Hello, I’m Petur.
I’m a climber, researcher, and explorer, and I love playing outside with my friends. Two years ago, I cycled 2,000 kilometers to the south of France with my dad, which took us only 20 days, and I wanted to keep going and cycle around the whole world. I would love to get into the Guinness Book of Records for this, but that seems to be complicated.

When I was eight years old, I hiked over 1,000 kilometers. On the way from Istanbul to Konya, we only met one other hiker. It was a real adventure. Cycling is definitely more my thing than hiking.

Now that my two sisters have just moved out, I have finally convinced my parents to set off soon.

I find other people and cultures exciting and want to know how they live, what plants grow in their country, and how children grow up in this world. I can hardly wait to finally get going.

Lukas (41)

Hi, I’m Lukas. If my wife had to describe me in three words, she would say grounded, trusting, and generous. It doesn’t really matter to me where I am on this earth, as long as it’s safe, and I am aware of how privileged I am to live in a country like Germany and be able to plan this trip.

Other people and their well-being are very important to me, and I focus a large part of my life on being mindful in my relationships with others. Whether it’s listening or just everyday life in the large community we live in. I often hear that people feel safe with me.

When I’m not climbing trees (I’m an arborist) or supporting others, I love listening to music and juggling. For a long time, I couldn’t imagine traveling, but with a woman like Nirmala by my side, it was inevitable. Now I have a great desire to set out and experience letting go of possessions and familiar things and to discover who I am when I am among strangers. I dream that we as human beings will connect with each other and realize that we are all in the same boat and not separate from each other. I deeply hope that our journey can contribute to understanding, togetherness, and peace.

Nirmala (48)

Hi, I’m Nirmala.

An adventurer at heart and a travel junkie. Even before I had my high school diploma in my hands, I backpacked around Jamaica – a childhood dream I realized at the age of 19. Since then, I have traveled to over 40 countries and lived in silence on a mountain in Sri Lanka for a year.

As a Dharma, meditation, and yoga teacher, I love retreats, solitude, and silence—while juggling the life of a hermit with everyday family life. I love being outdoors, surrounded by wild, powerful nature. It pains me when it is destroyed.

I love this earth. And I believe we need new ways to encounter it – more mindfully, more consciously, more slowly. Our bike tour is an attempt to live exactly that: to travel in a resource-saving way, to connect – with people, landscapes, cultures. And to inspire others to do the same.

For me, simplicity is key. Because simplicity makes encounters possible—genuine listening, compassion, understanding. And that’s exactly what I’m about: humanity instead of consumption, connection instead of distraction. Our journey is not an escape—it can be a contribution.
